Small changes for the better

Rob Hosking has the right take on last week’s fooferah surrounding Matthew Doocey’s Member’s Bill.

Both [Doocey’s bill and Korako’s] seek to get rid of silly, pettifogging and outdated laws. One of National’s entire raison d’etre, going back to the party’s origins, is to minimise the interference in people’s lives with silly bureaucratic rules.

The war on red tape is never ending, and these private member’s bills are a good way of fighting that war – and of making that point.
